MARIE STOPES LAUNCHES MWENGE CALL CENTRE




 Marie Stopes Tanzania (MST) re-opened its newly refurbished Mwenge Hospital located at Plot number 421 & 422, Kinyonga Street in Kijitonyama, Dar es Salaam.

Speaking during the re-launch event, The Danish ambassador to Tanzania, H.E. Einar Hebogård Jensen who presided over the event, commended MST for complementing the Government of Tanzania’s efforts in ensuring that all citizens have access to quality health services at affordable costs.

“In Tanzania, Marie Stopes is very well known for providing quality healthcare services which are affordable to most of Tanzanians, greatly complementing the Government of Tanzania’s efforts,” Mr. Jensen pointed out.

The refurbishment of the hospital has been a fruitful product of exciting collaborative efforts between MST and DANIDA/ Embassy of Denmark thereby making the hospital a one-stop health facility for family planning and sexual reproductive health services.

He said the partnership between DANIDA and Marie Stopes would be continuous for the benefit of all Tanzanians.



“We will continue to invest within the communities that we operate in as a way of supporting our key projects such as Health, Education and Poverty eradication.”

Mr. Jensen also launched the MST Contact (Call) Centre along with a toll free customer care number that will give the public the opportunity to inquire on MST services at no cost.

On his part, The Country Director for Marie Stopes Tanzania, Anil Tambay said the refurbished hospital provides comfortability and a conducive environment for the sick.

With funding from DFID, DANIDA, and USAID, MST is implementing multiple projects supporting delivery of integrated family planning outreach services and other sexual reproductive health services, including comprehensive post abortion care (CPAC) and Gender Based Violence (GBV) initiatives. These projects are focused on improving access to sexual reproductive health information and services to needy communities throughout Tanzania.


Aside from the launch, MST Mwenge hospital has also commenced its three-days special campaign which aims at providing free Blood Pressure (PB) check-ups, Blood Sugar check-ups (RBG), HIV testing, provision of family planning services, as well as cervical cancer screening to visiting clients – while other general medical services will continue to be offered at a fee within the hospital.

Nationwide, MST provides Sexual & Reproductive Health services at scale, covering all regions in Tanzania through mobile family planning outreach services. In addition, general medical services are also provided at MST’s health centres. MST works very closely with the Government of Tanzania at all levels, supporting implementation of the fourth Health Sector Strategic Plan- HSSP-IV (2015 – 2020), as a public private partnership (PPP). In 2016, MST hosted almost 7 million client visits and delivered over 2.1 million Couple Years of Protection (CYP).
